TSE main index gains 793 points

The main index of the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) hiked by 793.5 points or 1.03 percent on August 3, to end Wednesday trade at 77883.3.

According to the TSE official website, 925 million shares valued at about $70.9 million (2.1 trillion rials converted to US dollar according to the official rate on August 3) were traded at 62,622 transactions.

The stocks of National Iranian Copper Industries Co, Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company and Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company were among the companies that had the highest effect on the index.

Dr. ABIDI Pharmaceutical Laboratory, Alborz Cable Company, and Khorasan Steel Complex CO witnessed the highest value increase.

The shares of Niroumoharekeh Machine Tools Co, Iran Tire Manufacturing Company and Neyshabour Sugar Company saw the biggest decline in prices.

During its recent sessions since July 26, TSE reacted positively to the recent appointments at the Securities and Exchanges Organization of Iran (SEO).

The Securities and Exchange Organization's high council July 26 named Shapour Mohammadi as the new head of the SEO, the supervisory authority of Iran financial market.

Meanwhile, Ahmad Araghchi, Saeed Fallahpour, Ali Saeedi and Hassan Amiri, were appointed as the new members of the SEO board of directors.

Mohammadi will replace Mohammad Fetanat-Fard who chaired the SEO since December 2014.
