The latest statements from Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei seem to put the Iran-US negotiations under question, according to the leader's official website.
Speaking at the meeting with the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy commanders and staff and their families in Tehran, Khamenei said that the negotiations with the US "are banned, because they only impose losses to the country".
"Negotiations with the US is forbidden due to having many disadvantages and no advantages," the leader said.
He further said that there is a reason Iran is against the talks with the US, because "it means infiltration". He further explained that during the nuclear talks the US side used opportunities to influence Iranian negotiators during the talks.
While saying that Iran's negotiators were "vigilant", Khamenei added that the US side took chances to act against Iran's national interests.
Meanwhile, the leader said that the Islamic Republic "suffers from people who are unable to grasp the realities", yet they are in minority, compared to the great mass of revolutionary and insightful people.
He also slammed the modern-day negotiations, saying that today negotiation is a deal that assumes you give something up to gain something.
"Negotiation with the US means opening the path for their influence in Iran's economic, cultural, political and security affairs," he explained, adding that a big portion of enemy's activity is directed to changing Iranian officials' vision and manipulating the religious and revolutionary beliefs of the masses.
With regards to the region, Khamenei said that Iran has prevented its enemies to implement their plots there.
Khamenei's remarks on the negotiations with the US came out after the July 14 talks when Iran and the P5+1 group (US, Russia, China, France, UK, and Germany) announced a final accord, curbing Iran 's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of most international sanctions.
