Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 August / Trend corr. R.Novruzov/ Reports on mass escape of Azerbaijanis from Georgia are false, Chairman of the Georgian Azerbaijanis' National Movement Alibala Askarov said to Trend in a telephone conversation from Tbilisi on 12 August.
"Azerbaijanis are living their routine life," he said.
According to Askarov, in spite of bombing of Gori, its Azerbaijani residents decided to stay in the city. At the same time, Georgian residents of the city and its suburbs are heading to Georgia's border on Azerbaijan.
Large-scale military operations commenced in the unrecognized South Ossetia republic in the early morning of 8 August. Georgian Army was reported to enter Tskhinvali on 9 August. Official Tbilisi says the events are Restoration of the Constitution Regime. The unrecognized South Ossetia wants assistance from Russia. Mobilization of reserved soldiers was announced in Georgia on 10 August.
