Our Gymnasts Represented Azerbaijan in Beijing Olympic Games Successfully: AGF Vice-President (video)

Azerbaijan, Baku, 26 August / Trend News corr. R.Ergun / Vice-President of the Azerbaijani Gymnastics Federation Altay Hasanov's exclusive interview with Trend .

Question: Can we consider the Azerbaijani gymnasts' performances in the Beijing Olympic Games as successful?

Answer: I think that we can consider the Azerbaijani gymnasts' performances in the Beijing Olympic Games as successful. As you know, our two gymnasts performed individually in the Olympic Games. The Azerbaijani National team on group performances represented Azerbaijan in the Olympic Games, as well. It was the first time in the Azerbaijani gymnastics history. Both our group team and Aliya Garayeva, who performed individually, gained a certificate to final after intensive contest. I think that our gymnasts represented Azerbaijan in the final worthily, as well. I congratulate all our sport community for this occasion.

Question: Do our gymnasts, who could gain a certificate to the final in the first attempt, have potentials and opportunities to gain a medal in the next Olympic Games performing more successfully?

Answer: We always have opportunity. Just, it is necessary to train more seriously and we will do it.

Question: So, do you believe our gymnasts attracting everybody by their successful performances in the final of the Olympic Games to perform more successfully in the London Olympic Games 2012?

Answer: Yes, I hope that we will participate better in the next Olympic Games.

Aliya Garayeva and Dinara Gimatova represented Azerbaijan on individual performances in the Beijing Olympic Games. Besides them, the group team represented Azerbaijan in the Olympic Games, as well.

Garayeva gaining a certificate to the final ranked the sixth place. The group team ranked the seventh place in the final amongst the strongest teams of the world.
