ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 2. The development of aerohubs in Kazakhstan is the most important task, president of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said while delivering his annual message to the nation at a joint session of the Chambers of Parliament, Trend reports.
“About 150,000 tons of air cargo is handled in Kazakhstan annually. This figure can be doubled in the next four years. We will have to create all conditions to expand the capacity of our airports for cargo transportation.
The development of domestic air routes should be in the zone of close attention, especially the infrastructure issue at major tourist sites,” he said.
The President noted that the runways of the resort areas of Balkhash and Alakol have already been given a facelift, and now it's time to unleash the potential of the resort areas of Katon-Karagai, Zaisan, and Kendirli.
“It is necessary to build air terminal complexes and airports in resort areas with the provision of high-quality road infrastructure. Small aircraft should be purchased at the expense of the Industry Development Fund.
I want to emphasize that while implementing tourist projects, it is important not to disturb the ecological balance, to avoid damage to nature,” the head of state added.
