BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. COP29 electronic visa portal has been launched, Trend reports.
The State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in collaboration with "ASAN Visa," has launched a special visa application module for COP29 at www.evisa.gov.az/cop29. Given that tens of thousands of representatives from nearly 200 countries will be attending COP29, the portal is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Hebrew, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Persian, Chinese, and Korean. It offers 24/7 support and a fully electronic, paperless visa process.
Officials, delegations, and other guests seeking a special COP29 visa via the portal must first register through the UNFCCC online registration system. The special COP29 visa is free and can be issued within three business days after submitting the application.
You can find more details about the visa process, including an electronic guide and an informational video, on the portal.
This November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. This decision was made at the COP28 plenary meeting held in Dubai on December 11 last year. Baku will become the center of the world and will receive about 70–80,000 foreign guests.
The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. COP—the Conference of the Parties—is the highest legislative body overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention on Climate Change. There are 198 countries that are parties to the Convention. Unless the parties agree otherwise, the COP is held annually. The first COP event took place in March 1995 in Germany's Berlin with its secretariat in Bonn.
