Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 November/ corr. Trend U.Ismaylova/ The US International development agency (USAID) studies the possibility of increasing budget for Azerbaijan in 2009, Paul Davis, USAID senior economist, said.
"USAID has not approved the budget for the next year. The question is left open but probably the budget will be increased," Davis said. USAID budget for Azerbaijan made up $13 mln in 2008.
This year budget was mainly directed to support the economic development and health care, Davis said.
USAID is the independent agency of the US federal government. The target of the agency is to realize the US government programme on the social-economic development and to render humanitarian aid in more than 100 countries all over the world.
USAID functions since 1992.
