Active work is being conducted in different directions to increase the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Latvia, Ambassador of Latvia to Azerbaijan Juris Maklakovs said in an interview with Trend.
“Next year we plan to organize the Intergovernmental Committee in Riga,” said the ambassador.
He went on to say that Azerbaijani Ecology Minister and co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Committee from Azerbaijan Mukhtar Babayev expressed the willingness to visit Latvia to get acquainted with the Latvian experience in several fields.
Maklakovs stressed that opening of the Trade House of Latvia in Baku is one of the most important tasks.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s Trade House in Latvia, he said that it offers the best products that Azerbaijan’s businessmen can send to Latvia, adding that broad variety of Azerbaijani products is presented in the Trade House.
“It is worth to mention that this Trade House is the first one in the area of Europe Union (EU) and it means that everything that is presented there, can be sold in all EU countries. It is a great opportunity for your country that should be used appropriately by your entrepreneurs,” the ambassador noted.
Currently, Azerbaijan’s Trade Houses operate in Belarus, Ukraine and Latvia.
In January-October 2018, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $19.45 million, of which $1.62 million accounted for exports from Azerbaijan.
