This year (starting from March 21, 2018), more than 110 tons of honey have been produced in the Maneh and Samalqan County of North Khorasan Province in north-eastern Iran, with a 35-percent increase from the last year, Hadi Ghahramanian, Director of the Maneh and Samalqan County office of the North Khorasan Agriculture Jihad Organization, said, Trend reports via IRNA.

Ghahramanian added that 195 beekeepers are working in the province.

“The honey produced in the county supplies some of the needs of the province and is sold in Tehran, Alborz and Razavi Khorasan provinces,” he noted.

Around 9-10 kilograms of honey are extracted from each beehive, and 100 million rials (around $2380) are allocated from the provincial credit fund for the development of honey production in Maneh and Samalqan County every year.

Ghahramanian stated that these funds are spent for the purchase of mother bees and to aiding the creation of offspring in the hives.

Maneh and Samalqan County is among the main agricultural centers of Iran’s North Khorasan Province.
