TEHRAN, Iran, Nov .27

Trend:

The Iranian government is reconsidering the guaranteed purchase price for wheat, said the head of National Wheat Farmers Empowerment Foundation, Trend reports citing ILNA.

The new rate would change due to the rise of inflation in the country, Ali Qoli Imani noted.

Iran has increased its price for purchasing wheat from local farmers by 50 percent for the new harvesting season that will begin in June next year to 75,000 rials (about $1.7) per kilogram.

The scale of wheat cultivation is suitable in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021), and Iran could reach self-sufficiency in wheat production and reduce imports in the next Iranian year (started March 21, 2022), he indicated.
