BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 20. About 18,800 tons of soybeans worth 3.38 trillion rials (about $80.5 million) were harvested in Iran’s Ardabil Province in the north-west of the country, over the last harvesting season (October 6, 2022 through December 21, 2022), Deputy Director of Ardabil Province Agriculture Department Ahmad Shahriar told IRNA, Trend reports.
The deputy stressed that Ardabil Province ranks first in the country for soybean cultivation. In total, more than 42,000 tons of soybeans were harvested in Iran over the last season, of which 45 percent accounted for Ardabil Province.
“The most volume of soybeans were taken in the province’s Parsabad and Bilasuvar counties,” he added.
According to Shahriar, each 1 kg of harvested soybeans was sold by farmers to cooking oil processing plants for 180,000 rials (about $4.28).
The official also said that overall, 8,260 hectares of land in Ardabil Province were planted with soybeans last season.
Generally, there are 740,000 hectares of arable land and 38,000 hectares of horticulture land in Iran’s Ardabil Province. More than 4.5 million tons of agricultural products are harvested in the province annually.
