The multiple-discipline concern Siemens AG (Germany) has signed a protocol on strategic cooperation with Turkmenistan. The paper envisages forming of working commissions on key fields of Turkmen economy, including fuel and energy complex, an official source said.

The paper was signed at the business-forum "Modern technologies Siemens for Turkmenistan". The forum was attended by heads of companies and Turkmen officials. The paper includes joint projects in the sphere of oil and gas, energy, energy-saving technology, communications, transport and medicine.

The national television Altyn Asyr quoted member of Siemens AG Sigfrid Russvurm as saying the company is ready to introduce new technologies. "Turkmenistan is developing thanks to its great potential and despite of global financial crisis," he said.

Recently the European Parliament has ratified a trade agreement between Turkmenistan and the EU, as well as a Memorandum on mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of energy. In addition, an agreement was signed with energy companies, in particular, with the German TWE AG.

Siemens is operating in Turkmenistan since 1997. The company has implemented major projects, including construction and equipped dozens of medical institutes with modern technology, as well as in the field of telecommunications and fuel and energy complex.

The relations with the company revived after Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdymuhamedov's state visit to Berlin in November 2008.
