The "Azerkimya" production union under SOCAR will automate the production process by installing modern control systems in 2012, Azerkimya head Mukhtar Babayev said at the "Gas Infrastructure World Caspian" conference on Friday.
He said that Azerkimya plans to reduce the use of petrol as a raw material to 41 percent by 2014 compared to 65 percent this year.
The operations are underway within the creation of a technological park in the city of Sumgait.
"The products manufactured by "Azerkimya" will be used as a raw material," he said.
The implementation of this project will create conditions to develop pharmaceuticals, agriculture and industry in Azerbaijan. It will also stimulate small and medium enterprises, reduce dependence on imports, introduce new technologies and attract investments in the chemical sector of the economy.
