Turkish company appeals for oil exploration licence in Uganda

Turkish firm Pet Oil has appealed to the Ugandan Energy Ministry for a licence to explore for oil in the country, the Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.

Turkish firm Pet Oil has appealed to the Ugandan Energy Ministry for a licence to explore for oil in the country, the Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.

The company intends to explore for oil on the Albertin block which according to expert calculations, holds 60 per cent of all the country's oil reserves.

According to the newspaper, earlier two Turkish companies, the state-owned Turkish Petroleum Corporation and Genel Energy were engaged in oil and gas exploration in Africa.

The TPAO Company is engaged in oil exploration in Libya. Genel Energy is engaged in the exploration and development of fields in Morocco, Somalia and Tunisia.
