Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry requires more active application of innovative technologies, the country's Oil and Gas Minister Uzakbai Karabalin said at a meeting in Astana dedicated to the issues of preparation and holding of oil and gas forums.
"Kazakhstan's oil and gas industry requires more active application of innovational technologies which will not only increase the oil recovery of reservoirs and the production level of hydrocarbons, but will also give new impetus to the development of national oil and gas science," Karabalin said.
It is planned to hold oil and gas forums in Aktau, Atyrau, Kyzylorda and Uralsk this year, according to the minister.
"On of the first forums on the topic titled "Topical problems of oil production and the ways of their solution" will be held on Feb.26 in Aktau," the minister said.
The leading oil and gas companies and scientific institutions of Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Bashkortostan are ready to share their experience in applying steam stimulation technologies for increasing coefficient of oil extraction, according to Karabalin.
"Foreign experts will talk about the application of microbiological impact on oil recovery of reservoirs, the methods of defining the global ice loads on marine engineering structures, as well as the electricity supply to fields via a submarine cable, " Karabalin said.
Representatives of major oil companies: NСОС, Tengizshevroil, Shell, Lukoil, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating, Total, research institutes, as well as representatives of state bodies, Committees on Environmental Regulation and Control, geology and subsoil use participated at the meeting for preparation for the forum.
The issues related to the Subsoil Code, implementation of the Road Map of scientific and technological development of the mining sector of the oil and gas industry worked out by Shell were raised at the meeting. In addition the main aspects of implementation of the Aktau declaration on joint actions were discussed.
Regional oil and gas forums in Kazakhstan will be a kind of preparatory platform for holding the 11th Forum of interregional cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia. As is known, at the initiative of Kazakh president announced at the 10th Kazakh-Russian forum in Yekaterinburg, it was decided to hold a similar meeting in Atyrau on the topic titled "Innovations in the hydrocarbon sphere".
