Azerbaijan sees fall in power generation

Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 4.12 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-February 2018 that is by 1.7 percent less than in the same period of 2017, says a report of the State Statistics Committee.

The report says that 3.97 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in January-February 2018 accounted for commercial electricity, which is 1.1 percent less than in January-February 2017.

Thermal power plants generated 3.78 billion kilowatt hours of total commercial electricity in January-February 2018 that is 0.5 percent less than in January- February 2017.

Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 184.3 million kilowatt hours of commercial electricity in January-February 2018 that is 14.3 percent less than in January- February 2017.

Wind farms produced 2.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity, while solar power plants generated 4.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the reporting period.
