Turkey keeps Russian gas imports at last year's level

Turkey imported 2.83 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia in January 2018 which corresponds to the volumes imported in January 2017, says a report posted on the website of Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

Turkey imported 28.64 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia in 2017 as compared to 24.54 billion cubic meters in 2016.

The report says that Turkey imported 6.22 billion cubic meters of gas in January 2018, of which 4.26 billion cubic meters were imported via pipelines and 1.96 billion cubic meters accounted for import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Russia’s share in Turkey’s total import of gas was 45.46 percent in January 2018.

Russia supplies gas to Turkey via the Blue Stream and Trans-Balkan pipelines. Blue Stream is a major trans-Black Sea gas pipeline with a capacity of 16 billion cubic meters per year that carries natural gas from Russia into Turkey.
