The regular movement of trains carrying export and import goods from Turkey to Azerbaijan and in the opposite direction had a great impact on the growth of cargo transportation via the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway, Trend reports on July 5 with reference to the subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC - ADY Container LLC.
“The subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways company transported a total of 222 containers or 5,994 tons of cargo via BTK in June,” the message said.
"Some 82 containers with chemical products were sent from Azerbaijan to Turkey via four container block trains,” the message said. Some 72 containers of them were 45-feet while 10 containers were 20-feet.”
“Moreover, 140 containers (3,780 tons) were supplied from Turkey to Azerbaijan via five-block trains,” the message said. “Some 118 containers were 20 feet while 22 containers were 45 feet.”
“The main products of the chemical industry, as well as construction materials and sugar, were imported from Turkey to Azerbaijan in containers," the message says.
“TURKUAZ Express block trains are also planned to supply goods from Europe to the Turkish ports in the Black and Mediterranean Seas to Azerbaijan,” the message says.
“The regular movement of trains carrying export and import goods from Turkey to Azerbaijan and in the opposite direction had a great impact on the growth of cargo transportation via the BTK railway,” the message said.
“So, more than 11 TEU-containers were transported via BTK during six months of this year, which is by 5.6 percent (or by 664 containers) less than last year," the message said.
