BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The volume of cargo transported among the regions of Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) increased by 20 percent, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2023), compared to the same month in the last year, Director General of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province, Kalimollah Vosughi said, Trend reports referring to Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
The director general noted that in total, 272,000 tons of cargo were transported in the province for the first month.
“During the 1st month, about 144,000 tons of cargo were transported from Ardabil County, 86,300 tons from Namin County, 18,800 tons from Khalkhal County, 10,100 tons from Bilasuvar County, 5,160 tons from Meshgin Shahr County, 5,130 tons from Parsabad County, 1,700 tons from Germi County, 1,000 tons from Aslan Duz County of Ardabil Province to other regions of the mentioned province,” he added.
According to Vosughi, cement, construction materials, iron ingots, mineral water, gasoline, diesel, potatoes, etc. were the main transported goods in the province for the reporting month.
Meanwhile, 90 companies are operating in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and 2 cargo terminals in the province.
Overall, 4.26 million tons of cargo were transported in Iran’s Ardabil Province within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 9 percent compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
