BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 29. The volume of cargo transported from Iran’s Ardabil Province (north-western Iran) to the country’s other provinces increased by 5 percent, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, Deputy Director of the Road and Transport Department of Iran’s Ardabil Province Reza Shirinzadeh said, Trend reports.
Shirinzadeh noted that approximately 1.4 million tons of cargo were transported from the Ardabil Province to other provinces of Iran for 4 months, while in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 1.31 million tons.
“Within 4 months, 584,000 tons of cargo were transported from Ardabil County, 418,300 tons from Namin County, 136,000 tons from Parsabad County, 102,000 tons from Khalkhal County, 55,200 tons from Bilasuvar County, 34,600 tons from Aslan Duz County, 34,400 tons from Meshgin Shahr County, and 16,900 tons from Germi County of Ardabil Province to other regions of the mentioned province,” the official said.
The deputy director also added that the main cargo transported in the province in 4 months was construction materials, mineral water, watermelon, garlic, steel ingot, etc.
Meanwhile, 90 companies are operating in cargo transportation in Ardabil Province. At the same time, there are 13,550 trucks and 2 cargo terminals in the province.
Overall, 4.26 million tons of cargo were transported in Iran’s Ardabil Province within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), which is an increase of 9 percent compared to the preceding year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
