Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov expressed concern over the worsening of the situation in Palestine, speaking at the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan said in a message.

He said that the use of armed force against civilian population is unacceptable, and called on the international community to take all possible measures to immediately end the violence.

The extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul was convened on the initiative of the incumbent chairman of the Organization of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in connection with the events in the Gaza Strip on May 14, 2018.

Speaking at the summit, Abdrakhmanov also stressed that an attempt to change the historical status of Jerusalem threatens stability in the Middle East, since it remains a home to representatives of different ethnic and religious groups.

The head of Kazakhstan's foreign ministry also stressed that the Palestinians and Israelis should respect each other's right to live in Jerusalem.

Reiterating Kazakhstan's adherence to the implementation of the decisions and resolutions of the UN General Assembly and Security Council, Abdrakhmanov said that Kazakhstan stands for full and comprehensive settlement of the situation in the Middle East in the framework of constructive political dialogue.
