Kazakhstan, Lithuania eye launching regular railway service on Black Sea-Europe route

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 10. Lithuanian LTG Сargo railway company is in talks with Kazakhstan to launch regular railway service from the Black Sea to the countries of the EU, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

In order to develop the capacities of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), the Union of Transport Workers of Kazakhstan (KazLogistics) has held a number of meetings with industry associations of Lithuania and Latvia.

As a result, preliminary agreements were reached with LTG Сargo on the organization of regular rail service from the Black Sea to the EU, using piggy-back transport, which will make it possible to use the full multimodal transport cycle.

According to KazLogistics following the results of the meetings, a visit of the business delegation and state bodies of Kazakhstan to Latvia and Lithuania has been scheduled for June 2023.

Meanwhile, by the end of 2022, transit container traffic in Kazakhstan increased by 6 percent, the growth in the volume of transit cargo through the territory of Kazakhstan amounted to 12.6 percent with a total volume of 26.8 million tons.
