ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 11. The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria has organized the forum themed "Transport links between Kazakhstan and Bulgaria", Trend reports.

More than 20 representatives of Bulgarian transport companies took part in the forum.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Bulgaria Viktor Temirbayev noted in his speech that the geographical position of Kazakhstan in the center of the Eurasian continent creates favorable conditions for the use of the transport network of the country in the formation of transcontinental routes in directions from East to West and from North to South, including in the context of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor).

Temirbayev reported on the ongoing work of the Kazakh government to increase cargo transportation along the TITR, as well as to develop a new road route for transporting goods through Turkmenistan, Iran, Türkiye, and further to the EU countries through Bulgaria and Romania.

He pointed out that Bulgaria, like Kazakhstan, plays an important transit role in the trade chain between the countries of the EU, Central Asia, and China, and the countries need to intensify cooperation in the transport and transit sector.

In turn, Bulgarian representatives noted the importance of increasing cooperation in the transport and logistics sector in the current geopolitical situation.

The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.

The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.

The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
