Tajikistan announces possible opening of branches of Egyptian banks'

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. The possibilities of opening representative offices and branches of Egyptian banks in Tajikistan were discussed in Dushanbe at a meeting of the Chairman of the Tajik National Bank (NBT) Khokim Kholikzoda with a delegation of Egyptian investors headed by Osama Mohammed Kamal, Trend reports via the bank.

According to the NBT, Kholikzoda noted that at present, favorable conditions and a regulatory framework have been created in the country to attract foreign direct investments and free and unhindered activities of foreign investors in the economy, including the banking system.

He added that attracting investments is one of the most important issues, and it is advisable to establish cooperation with Egypt in the field of investing in the implementation of various projects and investments in the banking and insurance sectors.

It was noted that the visit of businessmen and investors of Egypt to monitor the implementation of documents on cooperation between businessmen of the two countries during the Investment Forum of Tajikistan and Egypt, signed in March this year in Cairo, will give a new impetus to strengthening bilateral trade relations.

The parties discussed issues related to the possibility of investing in the capital of Tajik banks by investors of this country, opening an insurance company, and establishing cooperation between the central banks of Tajikistan and Egypt in various areas of the banking system were considered.

Attention was also paid to the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation between the central banks of Egypt and Tajikistan in various areas of the banking sector and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the exchange of information and experience between the central banks.
