BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. The Lebap region in the east of Turkmenistan generated more than 438 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in January 2023, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
According to the information, these indicators in the reporting period belong to the Lebap and Watan power stations and the Seydi Thermal Power Station.
A significant part of the electricity produced in the region belongs to the Lebap power station, which generated almost 231 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the first month of this year.
High production rates make it possible not only to provide domestic consumers with electricity without interruption but also to export it. Part of the electricity generated in the Lebap region is supplied to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
Turkmenistan is actively integrating into the unified energy system of Central Asia.
It is expected that by 2025, the country will increase electricity exports by 8.7 percent, which the construction of new power plants, power lines, modern transformer substations and distribution facilities will facilitate.
