TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 17. The sales of new domestic passenger cars in Uzbekistan reached a total of 33,000 units in September 2023, Trend reports.
The sales of passenger cars in the primary market experienced a 1.4 percent increase over the course of September 2023. In contrast to the corresponding period from the previous year, there was a substantial rise of 37 percent, resulting in the sale of an additional 10,000 passenger cars.
As per data by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), sales of all types of vehicles in Uzbekistan amounted to 148,000 in September 2023, which indicates a decrease of 0.1 percent compared to August 2023. At the same time, this indicator increased by 20 percent compared to September last year.
The total sales of passenger cars reached a total of 137,000 units in August, marking a modest 1 percent increase within just one month. Notably, the most significant growth was witnessed in several regions of Uzbekistan, including a 19 percent increase in the Ferghana region, a 9 percent rise in Namangan, and a 5 percent uptick in the Khorezm regions.
Zooming out to a broader perspective, the data for September shows that the sales of passenger cars have surged by 18 percent when compared to the same month in the previous year. The cumulative sales of passenger cars have escalated by 26 percent, reaching a total of 404,000 units.
The Uzbekistan automotive sector has demonstrated significant growth with the production of approximately 200,000 cars from January through July 2023. Currently, UzAuto Motors exports cars to countries such as Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, etc.
