The Non-Aligned Movement rejects any threat against its member states under the pretext of fighting terrorism, Iran's deputy envoy to the UN Gholam-Hossein Dehghani said.
On behalf of Non-Aligned Movement members, Dehghani said that terrorism should not be equated with rights of confronting occupation and colonialism, the IRIB News reported.
He made the comments in an address to the UN's Ad Hoc Committee Negotiating Comprehensive Anti-terrorism Convention on Monday.
Dehghani called on all countries to refrain from expanding political, diplomatic, moral or material support for terrorism.
He went on to note that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality or ethnic group.
The Iranian envoy called for an international conference to formulate a joint response to terrorism.
