European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has indicated his willingness to stand for a second term as chief of the executive body of the European Union (EU), said Czech Prime Minister Jan Fischer on Tuesday, Xinhua reported.
Fischer, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, said he will start consultations immediately with other EU member states for Barroso's second term of office.
Barroso himself said he has accepted the offer to stay on as European Commission president for another five years.
The two men met on Tuesday morning to make preparations for the upcoming EU summit next week.
