Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov said that they supported the European Union's negotiations with Turkey as the negotiations helped Turkey to get modernized, Anadolu agency reported.
Speaking to a private radio station, Mladenov underlined that Turkey's negotiations with the EU were complicated.
"The Bulgarian society does not talk much about Turkey's EU negotiations," Mladenov stressed.
"The difficulty in making progress in Turkey's EU talks was not caused by a political unwillingness from either side. The problem has to do with making reforms in existing Turkish laws and regulations and harmonizing Turkey at both a technical and political level," Mladenov stated.
The EU itself has to find solution for many institutional problems so it can integrate Turkey within, Mladenov noted.
"Bulgaria will always support EU's enlargement. However, the progress of an individual candidate may be different than others," Mladenov also said.
