As part of an anti-terrorist operation carried out in Turkey's Adana Province, a native of Chechnya holding Russian citizenship was detained, Trend reports referring to Turkish media.

The detainee, whose name is not made public, is a member of the terrorist organization Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (Organization for the Liberation of the Levant) and was planning a terrorist attack on the eve of the New Year holiday, the reports said.

The reports also noted that the detainee participated in the battles in Syria and had close ties with the previously arrested Uzbek citizen Abdulgadir Masharipov, aka Abu Mohammed Khorasani, who organized the massacre in the Reina nightclub in Istanbul on Jan. 1, 2017.

Other details of the operation are not revealed yet.
