Azerbaijan President signs decree approving plan of measures on declaring 2009 as Year of Children

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on approval of "Plan of measures on declaring 2009 as Year of Children", AzerTaj state news agency reported. 

The plan of measures include formation of information bank, website, special portal about Azerbaijani children, development of recommendations on models of a modern family, arrangement of a republican festival of child art, as well as international Baku child art competition and international child dance festival "East-West", strengthening of enlightenment work regarding the UN Convention on human rights, arrangement of various events directed towards intellectual development of children, their upbringing in fever of patriotism, tolerance and preservation of national-moral values and realization of measures on teaching native language to Azerbaijani children living abroad.         

Organization of new theatre plays and state concerts in state child institutions are planned concerning the Year of Children. In accordance with the plan of measures, within the Year of Children, medical examinations will be held in child institutions. Sanitary measures and propagation of healthy lifestyle will be focused on. Perfection of immunoprophylaxis of infectious deceases in children will be strengthened. Measures on blood donation to children suffering from hereditary blood deceases and education standards of disabled children will be improved.  

The plan of measures also includes extension of the network of modern general education institutions, development of material and technical base of non-school teaching and educational institutions in accordance with modern standards and arrangement of intellectual competitions amongst children.
