Advisers of the Integrated Border Management Program in the South Caucasus will meet today in Tbilisi, Georgia. As the UN Development Programme representation in Georgia told Trend, the meeting aims at hearing reports on the work done by the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Georgian offices within the program in 2010.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of the EU, the U.S., EU countries' embassies, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
This program is funded by the EU and contributes to integrated border management of the South Caucasus. Integrated border management facilitates the free movement of citizens and cargo across borders. The program functions directly at the border checkpoints of the three countries, and works in close cooperation with relevant agencies of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia.
The initiative, worth 6.3 million euros is carried out by the UNDP jointly with ICMPD and consortium of EU member countries (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, France, Czech Republic and Poland).
