According to the Kazakh President's order dated January 16, Talgat Ermegiyaev has been appointed as chairman of the board of national company "Astana EXPO - 2017", Akorda reported today.
Ermegiyaev has headed the Ministry of Tourism and Sports since 2011 and then the agency for sport and physical education.
The Kazakh president has today instructed to complete designing EXPO-2017 facilities, begin constructing in 2013, create a state-owned company and appoint its head.
Astana with the theme "Future Energy" was chosen on November 22, 2012 as the venue for the international exhibition EXPO in 2017.
World EXPO has been held since 1851. The International Exhibition Bureau (BIE, Bureau International des Expositions) was established in 1928. It is the main body registering the world fairs.
