Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 August / Trend corr. E.Babayev/ The Commission on Complaint Consideration of the Azerbaijani Press Council investigated complaint of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) against the opposition Azadlig(Freedom)newspaper.
According to the Council, the commission made a decision on that the articles, which were published under headlines of Oligarch-Officials Seize NAP (29 July 2008) and Fight for Money in NAP (25 July 2008) in this newspaper, violate Regulations of professional behavior of journalists. The decision was grounded on the opinions expressed in articles, which was aimed at delivering a blow on authority of the organization. They did not base on any documents, facts, evidences, whilst the journalist referred to "reliable sources".
During examination of the Baku City Head Police Station's complaint on article with the headline of Partnership between Police and Prostitutes, published in Tazadlar (Contrasts) newspaper on 5-12 August 2008, it was indicated that the editorial staff did not take into consideration any ethical principles.
Complaints of "Institute of Freedom and Security of Reporters" Public Union against two newspapers, including Huriyyet (Was Emin Huseynov Really Beaten?) and Gundelik Baki (Emin Huseynov as Next Victim) were examined at the meeting of the commission. In accordance with agreement signed between the sides at the meeting, these newspapers were recommended to publish next articles reflecting opinions of Huseynov, the chairman of the Institute.
