Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 3, /Trend, K.Zarbaliyeva/

The Penal Service of Azerbaijan has made a clarification to the self-immolation of a prisoner in the prison 10, of which video was spread on the Internet and on television.
On Nov. 2, in the prison number 10, prisoner Husameddin Abbasov, using the repair works in the prison and the fact that the prison staff was busy in checking the evening, climbed onto the roof of the prison's building and screamed unlawful demands," the head of Penal Service's public relations department Mehman Sadigov told Trend. He also demanded the early freedom through a court decision.

Previously convicted Abbasov, born in 1981, was found guilty under article 234.2 (acquisition, possession and manufacture of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale) of the Criminal Code, and imprisoned for three years and six months.

According to Sadigov, despite that the prison chief sought to justify the conditions of early freedom to prisoner, he did not heed these words and tried to set fire to himself.
"However, thanks to the efforts of the prison staff, the prisoner was lowered from the roof and insulated. Abbasov's health did not incur any harm," said Sadikhov.
