Permissions granted for building construction down in Georgia

Some 6,975 permissions grants were issued from January through September 2020 (10,6 percent less compared to the same months of the previous year) for construction of buildings of 3.92 million square meters (30,2 percent less compared to the same months of the previous year) in Georgia, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

As reported, 76.7 percent of the total permits have been issued in 4 regions of the country, namely: 52.8 percent of the construction works located in Tbilisi, 10.2 percent -in the Kvemo Kartli region, 7 percent in - the Imereti region and 6.7 percent in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

From January through September 2020, permissions were issued for the construction of multifunctional residential complexes, hotels, trade facilities, industrial enterprises, agricultural objects, and other buildings.

The relatively large share of the permissions granted holds the multifunctional residential complexes. More than half of the total completed construction is distributed in 4 regions of the country, namely: 27.3 percent is located in Tbilisi, 14.3 percent - in the Kakheti region, 10.1 percent - in the Imereti region, and 9.8 percent - in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.

Some 1,445 objects (19.8 percent less compared to the same months of the previous year ) of 1.19 million square meters (37.9 percent less compared to the same months of the previous year) were completed in January-September, 2020.
