Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I. Khalilova / The amount of financial sanctions is envisaged to double in order to increase the efficiency of tax control in 2008, the Deputy Tax Minister, Natig Amirov, said on 26 October at the meeting of Azerbaijan Parliament's Commission for Economic Cooperation with regards to the amendments and annexes to the Tax Code.

According to him, the amount of the sanction which is determined at the level of 20-25% in Article 58 of the Tax Code, 'Financial sanctions for depreciation of taxes and other tax breaks', will be increased up to 50%.

They are extending on violations for understated tax sums (including salary tax) pointed out in the report, while those not represented in the report and tax evasion are imposed by financial sanctions in the amount of 25% of the understated tax sum.

In compliance with the changes made in the Civil Code, employees will be fined in the amount of AZN 1,000 per each non-registered worker if they do not have labour agreements, Amirov said. "This is a relevant issue as it is one of the factors affecting tax collection and the protection of rights of workers," the Deputy Minister said.
