Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 August / corr. Trend I.Khalilova / In June the deposit base of the Azerbaijani banks rose by 7.4% and this figure amounted to 78.2% in the first half-year of 2008 as compared to the same period of 2007, the Azerbaijani National Bank (ANB) said. A general volume of banks' deposits increased by 30.1% in January to June.
According to the ANB's data, total amount of banking deposits and deposits of legal entities and individuals amounted to AZN 4143.2mln as compared to AZN 3183.7mln as of 1 January and AZN 2324.9mln as of 1 July 2007. A total of AZN 1739.4mln fell on AZN and the rest on the currency. The rise of AZN deposit amount made up 6.9% in June.
Individuals' deposits rose by 3.6% with the rise of amount of legal entities' deposit by 10.1% in June. Within a year, the growth of individuals' deposits amounted to 62.8% with the rise of corporate clients' deposits by 90.3%.
On 1 July, the amount of individuals' deposit at banks of the country rose to AZN 1661.6mln from AZN 1468.4mln as of 1 January and AZN 1020.8mln as of 1 July 2007. On 1 July, the amount of legal entities' deposits made up AZN 2481.6mln as compared to AZN 1715.3mln as of 1 January and AZN 1304.1mln as of 1 July 2007.
