Initial observations indicate on lack of pig flu: state veterinary service of Azerbaijan

Initial observations held in Azerbaijani pig-breeding farms do not indicate on А/H1N1 virus (pig flu), press-secretary of the state veterinary service under the ministry of agriculture Yolchu Khanveli said on June 5.

"Collection of blood samples for laboratory analyses is completed. According to initial monitoring, situation is stabile in pig-breeding farms," Khanveli said.

Monitoring is held in regions with pig-breeding farms, he said. Results of analyses will be announced next week.

Previous monitoring was held early May. Roughly 388 samples of pigs' blood were collected for laboratory research. А/H1N1 virus was not found.

Pig-breeding farms are situated in Gabala, Zagatala, Sheki, Balaken, Ganja and Baku's settlements.

Presently, there is temporary ban for import of cattle-breeding production from U.S and European continents to Azerbaijan.

All pig-breeding farms were transferred to closed facilities in order to control pig flu in the country. Work was strengthened I veterinary departments in regions. Leadership of these departments is charged with control over this situation.
