Azerbaijan has strengthened measures with regards to entrepreneurs that use child labor, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Azerbaijan Natig Mammadov said on June 30.
"According to the data provided by the International Labor Organization, annually more than 128 million children are engaged in labor over the world. In Azerbaijan, together with all relevant ministries, governmental and non-governmental organizations, the Ministry of Labor caries out important work to eliminate this serious problem," said Deputy Minister.
He said that the Ministry of Labor also plans to develop measures to eliminate child labor and present them to the government, since child labor may have a negative impact on their health in future, education and formation as a person.
According to Mammadov, in Azerbaijan, the use of child labor is relevant in the summer, mainly in services, construction and tourist facilities. The use of child labor also occurs in the field of agriculture in the country.
In Azerbaijan the children over 15 years of age have the right to work, provided that the work is not hazardous to health, does not interfere with education and normal life.
Mammadov said that in the first quarter, 16 facts of child labor use were revealed in Azerbaijan as a result of which, some sanctions under the Code of Administrative Violations have been applied in respect to entrepreneurs.
