Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov approved the Regulations on the Turkmen State Sea and River Transport Service and the structure of its central office.

Turkmenistan, along with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Iran, borders the Caspian Sea. There are a lot of rivers in the country, the largest one - the Amu Darya river.

The new structure will be formed on the basis of the former management Turkmen sea routes. The document said that the transformation is carried out to create modern advanced sea fleet and establish state control over the movement of ships in the territorial waters of Turkmenistan.

According to the document, it is necessary to rename the state control service over the technical condition of fleet, navigation and vessel traffic under Turkmen sea routes into administration to control vessel traffic in the Turkmen State Sea and River Transport Service.

New State Service is authorized to create the Turkmen sea fleet, as well prepare proposals for making appropriate changes and amendments to national legislation in conjunction with the Ministry of Justice within one month and submit to the Cabinet of Ministers.
