TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.10
Trend:
Iran is facing challenges of smuggling of agriculture products and livestock, said the head of the Agriculture Commission of the Cooperative Chamber, Trend reports citing ILNA.
Domestic policy of banning some exports has caused smuggling of products that are destined for export, Arsalan Ghasemi noted.
"Iran currently produces 300 million tons of agricultural products and food items. The domestic market consumes 85 million tons of the products, and the rest are either exported or smuggled to Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the Persian Gulf states," he indicated.
Iran is predicted to export more than $11 billion in agricultural products and food items by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021).
