Oil transportation via Azerbaijani Black Sea terminal rather increased: Georgian government

The Georgian Black Sea Kulevi Oil Terminal, owned by SOCAR, has pumped 1 million tons of freight in the first half of 2009 compared to 100,000 tons in the first half of 2008, the Georgian government said.

About 57 ships were sent from this terminal within six months of 2009 compared to 4 ships during the first half of 2008, the report said.

At present, operations to dredge seabed to receive tankers of big dead-weight are being held. It will increase the volume of cargo transportation.

Oil terminal in Kulevi launched its operations last summer. The total production capacity of the terminal is 10 million tons of oil-loading cargo a year, including 3 million tons of oil, 3 million tons of diesel fuel, 4 million tons of fuel oil. It can place up to 168 wagons-cisterns. The total volume of the reservoir tank hits 320,000 cubic meters. Within two years, the capacity of the terminal is planned to increase to 15-20 million tons.
