Iranian airline companies start to sell tickets

Iranian airline companies to start selling tickets for direct flights from Tehran to Istanbul on August 1, Secretary of Iran's Aviation Companies Association Maghsoud Asadi Samani told Trend.

According to Asadi Samani, the Turkish side has announced that it will accept Iranian planes at all airports in the country from August 1.

Asadi Samani added that an Iranian airline has set the price of a ticket for a Tehran-Istanbul flight at 15-19 million rials (about $357-$452).

Turkish Airlines will operate Tehran-Istanbul flights from July 16. Ticket prices for this company range from 25 to 38 million rials (about $ 595-$916).

Following the spread of the coronavirus, a number of restrictions were imposed on the country's borders with neighboring countries. Restrictions were later gradually lifted.

Iran continues to monitor the coronavirus situation in the country. According to recent reports from the Iranian officials, over 209,900 people have been infected 9,863 people have already died. Meanwhile, over 169,100 have reportedly recovered from the disease.

The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.

The Islamic Republic only announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on Feb. 19.

The outbreak in the Chinese city of Wuhan - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019.

The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11 declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Some sources claim the coronavirus outbreak started as early as November 2019.
