Kazakh short-term economic indicator shows double-digit growth for construction, trade sectors

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 14. The short-term economic indicator in Kazakhstan increased by 5.6 percent from January through June 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

According to the country's Bureau of National Statistics, in the reporting period, the highest year-over-year growth was observed in the construction (12.3 percent), trade (10.4 percent), and communication (8.8 percent) sectors. The lowest growth was observed in the industrial (3.8 percent), agricultural (3.2 percent), and transportation (7.4 percent) sectors.

From January through June 2023, most regions of Kazakhstan experienced positive growth rates in the economic indicator.

Negative growth rates were only recorded in the Karaganda region (-3.5 percent) and Aktobe region (-5.2 percent). The highest growth rates were observed in Almaty city (20.4 percent) and the Zhetsu (21.5 percent), Akmola (13.5 percent), North Kazakhstan (110.9 percent), and Abai (11.8 percent) regions.

Overall, the growth rate of Kazakhstan's economy for the first half of the year reached 5 percent. Positive dynamics have been observed across all major industries, with construction, trade, information and communication sectors demonstrating the best performance.
