Afghan top official visits Tajikistan

General Baz Mohammad Ahmadi, Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics, who heads an Afghan government delegation, is arriving in Tajikistan today for a five-day working visit, Asia-Plus reported with reference to the Afghan Embassy in Dushanbe.

On Monday, the delegation will hold talks with the local government of Gorno Badakhshan (GBAO) and the GBAO law enforcement authorities. The delegation will arrive in Dushanbe on October 19. Here, Ahmadi will meet with senior representatives of Tajikistan's Interior Ministry, State Committee for National Security (SCNS) and Drug Control Agency (DCA) as well as the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Country Office in Tajikistan.

The delegation has a target to discuss ways of expanding cooperation between Afghan and Tajik special services in the areas of combating drug trafficking and conducting joint operations on neutralization of transnational crime groups.
