The Swiss Confederation held a commemoration ceremony on the seventh anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev's death, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Switzerland told Trend today.
The participants laid flowers at a bust of Aliyev.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Murad Najafbeyli talked about the life and rare merits of the architect and creator of modern Azerbaijan and the Turkic leader.
He noted that Aliyev's political course was based on national values and has helped the country to achieve a worthy position in the international community.
Najafbeyli added that President Ilham Aliyev is successfully continuing these policies. Under his leadership, Azerbaijan has seen progress in the political, socioeconomic, cultural, military and economic spheres.
Aliyev died on Dec.12, 2003.
