Azerbaijani Charge d' Affaires in Pakistan, Dashgin Shikarov, conveyed his deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences to late Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer's family, Pakistani news agency Daily Times reported.
He said, "On behalf of the people and government of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I would like to convey deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the members of the illustrious family over the touching sad demise of Salmaan Taseer. His assassination has left a huge vacuum in Pakistani politics. Salmaan Taseer was a man of great qualities. His devotion to his profession was incomparable, and his understanding of the issues was enviable. He was a politician par excellence."
Shikarov remarked, adding, "Taseer will also be long remembered for his untiring efforts towards promoting peace and stability in the province and in the country. May Allah Almighty in His infinite mercy rest the departed soul in eternal peace. May Allah Almighty give the esteemed members of the bereaved family and the people of Pakistan, the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss."
