Relations between Azerbaijan and the U.S are at a level of strategic cooperation. Azerbaijan and the U.S benefit from cooperation in such areas as regional security, energy, economic development, democratic reforms and human rights, the first deputy chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov said today.
"According to former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Azerbaijan and the U.S have a deep, important and long term relationship," he said.
He also said that at present, the two countries are working closely together.
"The analysis of the relations between the two friendly countries shows that the relations between the Azerbaijani Republic and the U.S are dynamic," he said. "The U.S. was among the first countries which recognised Azerbaijan's independence.
"Relations between our countries have been developed and expanded since that time. These relations were strengthened following the visits of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the U.S and the signing of 76 inter-state agreements. These relations are of a strategic nature."
