Despite the fact that holding the first European Games in Azerbaijan pleases many people in the world, at the same time, this fact causes concern among certain forces, and that is why attempts to discredit the first European Games are taken at different levels, MP of Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan Nizami Jafarov told Trend March 25.

He said that these attempts are made on the grounds that the development of Azerbaijan worries certain forces.

"There is no another explanation for this," said the MP. "The campaign to discredit the first European Games pursues selfish goals. But all of them fail, since Azerbaijan has the will and authority in the world."

Jafarov went on to add that such attempts were also made in the period of holding Eurovision international song contest in Azerbaijan.

He said that unsuccessful campaign to discredit Azerbaijan was also held at that time, and after holding this famous song contest, the popularity of Azerbaijan in the world has increased.

The MP said that the world knows about the successes of Azerbaijan in the field of sport.

"The culture of hospitality in Azerbaijan is known worldwide, and it develops," said Jafarov.

He went on to add that nobody in the world doubts the successful holding of the first European Games 2015 in Baku.
